Between one contradiction and another, generated by the wave of cancel culture that has swept almost all areas, good Roald Dahlan outstanding writer of children’s literature and a constant source of inspiration for cinema with his works, also inspired Netflix make a new full-length animated film based on “Tweet Boys” (Tweets, 1980). A film whose screenplay, direction and producer was nominated for an Oscar. Phil Johnston (Wreck-It Ralph2012) and animation Photos of Jellyfish (Baby Boss, What a pity) will be distributed by the streamer in 2025.

Tweet boys (Tweets) is the first film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book of the same name, the central theme of which is pure eviltranslated into 41 languages and sold 16 million copies worldwide.

The story follows Mr. and Mrs. Twit, the hapless owners of the world’s most disgusting, dangerous, and idiotic amusement park, Twitland, and their meteoric rise to power in their town. Tits are the most disgusting, smelly and evil people in the world. When they rise to power in their city, two brave orphans and a family of magical animals will try to save the day. Fortunately, tweets are not inexhaustible in their ideas and in the end, albeit quite unwittingly, remain victims of their own malice.
Tweet boys It’s a hysterically funny and wild film, full of jokes, but it’s also a story for our times about the endless battle between cruelty and empathy.
Director Phil Johnston
Johnston he was very excited to take on this project as Gli Sporcelli (Dudes) was his favorite book as a child. “I’ve always been attracted to reprehensible characters. I don’t know what this says about me and I really don’t want to look into it. he told Netflix earlier this year. I love the Twit Boys and their terrible stunts. I love that they lack self-awareness, personal hygiene, and any hint of human decency. And I love this movie because it reminds us that idiots like Twitter, whose default emotions are anger and revenge, cannot be allowed to win in our world.“
Tweet boys will be available for broadcast Netflix in 2025. This is the first animated version of Roald Dahl’s exciting slate of projects to hit Netflix, including an upcoming live-action short film. Wes Anderson, The Wonderful World of Henry Sugaras well as an animated film about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Netflix acquired Roald Dahl Story Company in September 2021.
