Gisele Bündchen never “dreamed” of splitting up from husband Tom Brady.
The supermodel, 43, and NFL star Tom, 46, divorced in October 2022, six months after Tom’s surprising decision not to retire reportedly sparked an “epic row.”
Gisele, who shares son Benjamin, 13, and daughter Vivian, 10, with Tom, has opened up about how she was blindsided by the split nearly a year after their split .
She told Lee Cowan in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning News aired this Sunday (09.24.23): “(Our breakup) was not what I dreamed of and hoped for. My parents have been married for 50 Years later, I really hope this happens.
“But I think you have to accept that, you know, sometimes like in your 20s, sometimes you grow together and sometimes you grow apart.”
Gisele added that she was “so grateful” for their relationship because it resulted in two “amazing” children.
“He’s the father of my child, so I always wish him the best,” she said.
The model previously admitted that going through the separation was difficult, telling People magazine: “It’s been very hard on my family. It’s happened a lot in all areas of my life.
“I feel like whenever it rains, it pours. Life takes all kinds of twists and turns, and all we can do is do the best we can with what’s going on around us.”
Gisele and Tom announced their split in a joint statement, which said: “We have made this decision amicably and are grateful for the time we spent together.”
The model pledged to support Tom’s eldest child, son Jack, 16, whose mother is actress Bridget Moynahan, 52.
Since the pair separated, Gisele has been focusing on buying a new $9 million home in Florida and modeling.
Tom has been dating model Irina Shayk, but a source told Us earlier this month that they weren’t just dating.
