Before fans knew about the “death of John Wick,” Keanu Reeves spoke about the possibility of John Wick: Chapter 5 months before the release of John Wick: Chapter 4.
Without giving a definitive answer, Reeves told Total Film that he is taking a wait-and-see approach to the future of the franchise. “You should see how the public reacted to what we did,” Reeves told the publication. “The only reason we had a chance to make these films is because people liked what we did. So I think we need to wait and see how the audience reacts to it. I hope they like it.”
If John Wick: Chapter 4’s final worldwide box office gross of $426.5 million on a $100 million budget is any indication, audiences did like a movie. As such, don’t be surprised if Lionsgate tries to convince Reeves to come back from the dead and play Wick again.
At the very least, fans will likely see Baba Yaga again. Reeves will play Wick in the Ballerina spin-off starring Ana de Armas. Reeves previously unveiled the Ballerina timeline, revealing that it takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4. Since John is alive and well during this period, his appearance makes sense. However, it is unknown how significant his role is.
