In July, KK Entertainment announced a new way for fans to connect with their company’s artists with the release of an artist-fan communication app targeting KQ Entertainment. TOKTOK July 17th.
Since then ATIZ And Seekers Members keep fans updated on their activities through the app, which allows for a membership option as well as the ability for fans to access idols’ “live chats.”
Leader of ATEEZ HongjoongA recent live chat gained attention for the most unintentionally hilarious reason: Google’s automatic translation feature completely misinterpreted his innocent message to ATINY (ATEEZ fans).
Hongjoong discussed food with ATINY and wrote popular shortcuts Bude Zhigae (also known as army stew) and Sundubu Jjigae(soft tofu stew).
While the topic was undoubtedly innocent, Google’s automatic translation took an unexpectedly revealing turn, causing Hongjoong to wonder if there was something wrong with the translation, apparently in response to messages sent by fans.
- “Oh, hmm…”
- “BJ (initials of the word Budae Jjigae, common in Korean)”
- “SJ (initials of soft jjigae tofu common in Korea)”
- “Hehehe”
- “Translation..??!”
The automatic translation function mistranslated the abbreviated text, and when the international ATINYs who joined the chat responded, Hongjoong cheerfully asked, “This is bad..?!»
Realizing that the auto-translate feature had mistranslated his messages, he quickly clarified what he was talking about to international ATINYs.
In a series of messages, Hongjoong cheerfully explained that he was just talking about Korean soup.
International ATINY knew that the automatically translated messages were probably incorrect and couldn’t come to terms with how ridiculously inaccurate they actually were, as well as Hongjoong’s reaction.
