Khufiya – October 5, Netflix

Helmed by acclaimed director Vishal Bhardwaj, best known for his gripping adaptations of the Bard’s works, Khufiya is a spy thriller starring Tabu, Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film is based on Amar Bhushan’s novel Escape to Nowhere. The plot revolves around the character of Tabu Krishna Mehra, a spy working for RAW who is tasked with finding a mole who is allegedly responsible for selling government secrets.

Damsel – October 13, Netflix

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown will star in Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi action film Damsel. The film, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, tells the story of Princess Elodie, who marries a handsome prince. However, the young princess soon realizes that her relatives have sinister motives. They plan to sacrifice her to pay off an ancient debt. To survive and escape, she will have to rely on her wits and willpower to outrun the fire-breathing dragon she is trapped with. The film features an ensemble cast of Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone and Nick Robinson.

Kaala Pani – October 18, Netflix

The survival drama series Kaala Pani is helmed by Samir Saxena and Amit Golani and stars Mona Singh, Ashutosh Gowariker and Amy Wagh in pivotal roles. The series is set in the Andaman Nicobar Islands and revolves around the plight of several people trapped and surrounded by thousands of kilometers of unforgiving ocean.

Loki Season 2 – October 6, Disney+ Hotstar

God of Mischief will return with British actor Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as title character Loki. In the second season of the Disney+ original series, Loki and Morbius travel through time and space to find Sylvie and fix the timelines broken by Kang the Conqueror. Owen Wilson, Sofia Di Martino and Gugu Mbatha-Raw have other prominent roles in the Marvel series.

Kushi – October 1, Netflix

Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular role in this whirlwind love story in the style of Romeo and Juliet. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film tells the story of how two people with opposing ideological backgrounds get married despite their parents’ disapproval. However, their fairytale romance is forced to come to terms with the reality of modern social problems. Samantha Ruth Prabhu stars opposite Deverakonda, while other notable roles are played by Sachin Khedekar, Saranya Ponvannan and Murali Sharma.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – October 1, Netflix

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the sequel to the Academy Award-winning Best Picture animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, somehow manages to improve upon its predecessor. The story follows Miles Morales as he grapples with the responsibility of being the only Spider-Man in his reality while struggling to cope with the demands of being a teenager. But when Gwen Stacy returns to warn him of a threat to the multiverse, Miles must show maturity beyond his years to save all of reality. The film stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, Mahershala Ali and Oscar Isaac.

Ghadar October 2-6, ZEE5

Gadar 2, the sequel to the 2001 cult film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, broke box office records despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. Sunny Deol reprises her role as Tara Singh, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma and also returns as Sakku and Jeeta from the first film. The story follows Tara Singh, who finds himself at the center of events caused by the Indo-Pakistani War in 1971. When he is held captive behind enemy lines, his son Jeeta undertakes a daring mission to rescue Tara from his captors. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film also stars Gaurav Chopra, Manish Wadhwa and Simrat Kaur in other prominent roles.

Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One – October 11, BookMyShow Stream

In the seventh installment of the iconic Mission: Impossible franchise, Hollywood action star Tom Cruise returns as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, who is trying to stop yet another enemy threatening the safety of the entire planet. As you’d expect from a Tom Cruise action movie, Mission: Impossible: Deadly Reckoning. Part One features deadly stunts and an exciting plot. The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales and Pom Klementieff.

The Fall of the House of Usher – October 12, Netflix

Acclaimed horror director Mike Flanagan returns to helm another horror series titled The Fall of the House of Usher. The series is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s stories about the lives of the Usher siblings, Roderick and Madalyn, who amassed significant wealth through their pharmaceutical company. However, when the heirs to the empire begin to die under mysterious circumstances, the family is forced to confront the dark secrets of their past. Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Mary McDonnell, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Willa Fitzgerald and Mark Hamill among others have played prominent roles in the series. Critics have praised the series based on early reviews, and it currently has a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
