The “enemy” reacts at the New York Film Festival – World of Reel

Garth Davis’ Enemy was supposed to screen for press at the New York Film Festival, but blogger Eric Anderson appears to have broken the embargo. tweet came the reaction:

FOE disappointed me, it seems to think much deeper than (this is quite simplistic) about artificial intelligence and climate change, but Saoirse Ronan gets fuck bob’s ass and Paul Mescal plays most of the time at 11 years old. Aaron Pierre is creepy and cool.

If anyone has a definition of what a “fucking ass” is please let me know, I’m very curious.

This is exactly the reaction I expected, especially after hearing that the film’s test screening this summer received a lot of mediocre reactions. It was described to me as a “slow build” that isn’t really all that interesting until the sci-fi elements kick in in the final stretch.

The film takes place in 2065. It stars Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal as a couple living in the middle of the desert whose quiet life is disrupted when a mysterious stranger (Aaron Pierre) knocks on their door one night.

TO trailer was released last month. The film will be released on October 6 on Amazon. Davis began his career with his Oscar-nominated film Lion in 2016 and then released the sequel Mary Magdalene. The trailer calls him a “visionary director,” which he is not.
