Travis Scott’s phone ends up on the ocean floor during Astroworld trial

Rapper Travis Scott’s Astroworld trial just got a little more complicated after his lawyer said his phone, containing confidential information relevant to the lawsuit, was at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.

In 2021, the Astroworld tragedy left 10 people dead and hundreds injured after the crowd at Travis Scott’s music festival was ransacked.

Scott finally appeared in his long-awaited testimony, which took place last Monday (September 18), covering the many thousands of claims filed in the wake of the catastrophic event.

rolling stone reports that attorneys representing the plaintiffs (the victims and their families) have requested information from Scott’s phone. However, the eight-time Grammy nominee’s lawyer, Steve Brody, told the court that no information could be retrieved from Scott’s phone because it was at the bottom of the ocean. He added that he had not backed up his phone due to “serious fears of hacking.”

In addition, the plaintiffs’ attorneys also allege that Scott and XX Global previously “objected to the production of these records, citing several different reasons, including that the request was a ‘search for confidential and/or classified information.'”

“From what I’m hearing now, there appears to have been no action taken by Mr. Scott’s legal team to secure or download anything from his phone in the immediate aftermath of the event in which 10 people died. .or, B, attempting to recover text messages from alternative sources when Mr. Scott would have the opportunity to go and obtain that information, perhaps from the carrier or other sources.”

However, Scott’s team remains adamant that Scott has nothing to hide, despite the loss of all evidence and communications before, after and during the event.

“His actions during and after the festival demonstrate that he did nothing wrong,” says Ted Anastasiou, Scott’s spokesman. “As is the fact that he and his team were exonerated following an investigation by the Houston Police Department.”
