Singer-songwriter Chloe Stroll talks about her new single “Hurricane”, being an artist in the digital age and her desire to one day collaborate with John Legend.

Single “Hurricane”

About her latest single ‘Hurricane’ she said: ‘I recorded ‘Hurricane’ a few days before my husband’s competition. He was very cool, calm and collected, but I was nervous.”

“I wrote this song for anyone who is going through something difficult, an obstacle in their life and supporting their loved one,” she added.

Inspiration for music and songwriting

Regarding her music and songwriting inspiration, she said, “My music and songwriting are largely inspired by my life experiences. Whether it’s my relationship with my husband, home invasion or friendships, I’m very vulnerable with the music I put out into the world.”

Digital age

As an artist in the digital age, when streaming, technology and social media are so prevalent, she said: “It feels very vulnerable. Everything is fast, be it reviews or opinions, everything happens at once. You only have three seconds to make an impression before people move on to the next thing or change the song, so it makes it more difficult.”

“At the same time, I think that when used correctly, social media allows us to tell a better story and better understand who the artist is as a person. It’s the same with streaming: we have access to music that we would never otherwise hear, and it’s given more artists the opportunity to get their music out there, so it’s a Catch-22,” she explained.

Future plans

About her future plans, she shared, “My future plans definitely include a lot more music! I’m so grateful that I can pursue my hobby while working full-time and hope to continue to do so for a long time.”

“My long-term goal is definitely to release an album, but for now I’m just continuing to write, record and put my music out into the world,” she added.

Choice of dream duet in music: John Legend

As for choosing her dream musical duo, she said: “John Legend.” “He’s probably the one I’d like to do a duet with. I think my main style is the way I play love ballads on the piano, and he wrote and did some of the best ones like that,” she said.

Success

On her definition of the word “success,” she said, “Success in general is finding true happiness with yourself. Success in music is when one song I wrote or recorded changed someone’s day for the better. Having an impact on someone through music, I couldn’t ask for more success than this.”

Final Thoughts on Hurricane

In her new single, she noted: “Hurricane is a very intimate track that was written to express the emotion of always being there for those you love, even in the most difficult times.”

“When people listen to this song, I hope they hear these raw emotions and are able to relate to the lyrics on a deeper level. Like all my music, I hope listeners feel inspired. I always say that if my music can help just one person get through their day, then everything is worth it,” she concluded.
