Minister of Agriculture and Environment Lucas Duriovid reminds poultry farmers to pay attention to the need for care and the symptoms of avian influenza. The guidance comes from the Mato Grosso Agricultural Defense Institute (Indea-MT), which, following a decision by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, declared a state of animal health emergency to prevent avian influenza.
The aim is to avoid the disease, which does not occur in current cases of H5N1. In this sense, keepers must pay attention to some clinical symptoms of birds in the flock, such as sudden death and high mortality. It is important to watch for a drop in egg production, dropped handles, twisting of the head and fish, loss of balance, and even brown spots, coughs and spirals on the glass.
It is worth noting that avian influenza affects domestic and wild animals and is transmitted through the nose, feces and body fluids. Please note that if a suspected case arises, the producer will seek the nearest Indea so that the suspected bird clinic can be assessed by a veterinarian.
Lucas do Rio Verde is a unit of Indea, located at Avenida Santa Catarina, 192E – Bairro Cidade Nova.
Health organizations advise that transmission of avian viruses to humans is rare but can occur through direct or indirect contact with infected animals or contaminated environments.
