Kevin Smith lists Los Angeles home bought by Ben Affleck for $6 million – The Hollywood Reporter

Kevin Smith has listed a $5.995 million Los Angeles home that he first saw in 2001 when his friend Ben Affleck owned it.

Smith told Wall Street Journal that his wife fell in love with the 8,144-square-foot, five-bedroom, Mediterranean-style home and called it her “dream home.” During the barbecue, “my wife and I were admiring how beautiful this house was,” Smith recalled. “Ben was upset about the house because it was on a main road and there were always paparazzi outside. He offered us to buy it from him at the same price he bought it for in 1998.”

The Smiths bought the house for $1.62 million in 2003 and raised their daughter Harley Quinn Smith (Cruel Summer, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot) there. They decided to sell the house because, since they’re empty, it now feels “too big for the two of us,” said Smith, who spoke with Hollywood Reporter last year about his rekindled friendship with Affleck in recent years.

The three-story Hollywood Hills home, built in 1993 and listed by real estate duo Brock and Lori Harris of Brock & Lori, features a rooftop pool, a library that also serves as a podcast room (where Smith recorded his SModcast podcast), a wet bar and a living room , master bedroom, sauna, canyon views, three-car garage, floor-to-ceiling windows and nearly 12-foot ceilings.

The house was also the location of the 2020 TBS reality competition. Celebrities in which Smith appeared and finished in second place.

Celebrities who have lived in the Outpost Estates Historic District over the years have included everyone from Dolores del Rio and Bela Lugosi to Johnny Galecki, Winona Ryder, Felicity Huffman and Madelaine Petsch.
