Bold Tom Brady take from Asante Samuel will shock New England fans

The New England Patriots’ recent back-to-back games trailing by more than 30 points show how far this team is from the days of Tom Brady and Super Bowl championships. At least one former NFL player believes Brady, even at 46, is still good enough to help the Patriots turn their season around.

Retired cornerback Asante Samuel recently had heated words for Brady and the Patriots.

“The bad team everyone saw was a bad team,” said Samuel of TMZ Sports. “… (Brady) could come in today and win a Super Bowl championship for the New England Patriots. Because that’s Tom Brady.” Tom Brady’s last appearance on an NFL football field appears to offer a chance to compete with Asante · Direct evidence to the contrary of Samuel’s bold claims. Brady last stepped on a football field as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who suffered a stunning home loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round of last year’s playoffs.

It’s also important to remember that Brady played on a Patriots team that featured primarily a historically great defense and elite skill position players, namely the greatest tight end of all time, Rob Gronkowski. Neither appears on the current New England roster.

Still, nostalgia is a strong emotion, and it’s understandable that both Samuel and Patriots fans will be recalling their golden years with Brady amid the team’s current struggles.

The Patriots are looking to bounce back from their Oct. 15 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
