As noted above, Cardi B will appear on her husband’s album with two separate tracks: “Freaky” and “Jealousy.” However, the latest song is over two months old, having been released as a promotional single at the end of July. Besides generating more excitement for Switch offthe release of “Jealousy” was entirely a matter of timing, given the rumors surrounding Offset and Cardi B this summer.

In late June, Offset accused Cardi of cheating on him with another man.

“My wife fucked a nigga on me, gang, you niggas know how I cum,” he wrote on her Instagram story.

This isn’t the first time infidelity has become an issue in Offset and Cardi’s six-year marriage. Previously, Cardi found out that her man had cheated on her, which momentarily ended their relationship. But this time, Cardi insisted that the rumors peddled by Offset were untrue.

“First of all, let me say: you cannot blame me for everything that you know you are guilty of. Sing it with me, guys! Cardi said in a Twitter Spaces chat on June 26. “And I see that it’s easy for you to blame me for everything… Come on, now. I’m Cardi B, nigga. I think sometimes motherfuckers forget that I’m Cardi B If I gave this pussy to anyone, it would come out. I’m not just someone.”

After this, nothing was heard from the duo for some time. Then, after a full month, they announced their new joint single, “Jealousy.” Released on July 28, the song marks their fifth collaboration and first since 2019’s “Clout.”

In the song and extended music video, Cardi and Offset talk about the cheating fiasco after seemingly overcoming it. At the beginning of the song, famous actress Jamie Lee Curtis appears as a reporter seeking answers from Offset. “There’s a lot of drama going on between you and your beautiful wife Cardi B,” Curtis says.

In response, he begins the first verse of the song with the words: Let’s talk about music. Throughout the rest of his segment, he mainly raps about his typical imagery of money and jewelry, while adding subtle lyrics referring to the haters who fueled his drama with his wife.

I hate a nigga’s ass cause I pulled it out of the dirt.
Hate in the family, nigga, be your own blood.

Then, as Offset’s verse ends and a sample of Three 6 Mafia’s “Jealous Ass Bitch” gets louder, Cardi B chimes in to be a little more direct. In fact, during a skit in the aforementioned extended music video for the song, Cardi is on the phone with actress Taraji P. Henson, who appears to be Cardi’s confidante. In their conversation, Cardi discusses the false reports about her cheating, claiming that her haters are trying to break her and Offset apart.

To further emphasize this with her verse at the end of the song, Cardi raps several times in the same vein.

Baby, no one listens to you unless you talk about me.
It’s always a bird trying to tweet shit
You get offended when I defend myself
They worry too much about me and my nigga
You should be worried about the nigga you’re sleeping with, hmm

Ultimately, Cardi B and Offset, as one of the most famous and famous couples in the industry, seem to have been able to bounce back from a minor mishap in June. With “Jealousy” coming in the midst of them both releasing their upcoming albums, it’s nice to see them both being on the same page.
