A supermarket chain presented a call to SMEs from all over the country to incorporate them as suppliers

The supermarket chain Carrefour presented a federal call for SMEs, small local producers and personal or family businesses to increase their presence as direct business partners of the company in order to promote regional industry and enhance work.

Through this initiative, the French firm seeks to include new suppliers to its value chain, inviting them to upload their applications by completing the registration form available on the company’s website until February 28, 2022. In the call, Carrefour will incorporate supplier companies of different categories including:

-Fresh products: includes national manufacturers of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, cheeses, cold cuts, fishmongers, bakeries, fresh and frozen meats and their derivatives, and prepared dishes or rotisserie products.

-Warehouse Products: incorporates national manufacturers of cleaning and perfumery products, dry foods (herbal teas, sweets, cookies, preserves, dressings, spices, noodles, rice, flours, pastries and snacks), oils, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, industrial bread, eggs, chilled and frozen foods. According to the company, “the proposals without gluten, reduced or without lactose, organic, low in sodium and without added sugar are valued”.

-Brand Carrefour: It is the supermarket’s own brand. With 107 suppliers, of which 98% are SMEs, its scope includes the search for national manufacturers of food, beverages, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene. “The proposals without gluten, reduced or without lactose, organic, low in sodium and without added sugar are valued,” the firm highlighted.

-Bazaar: This category includes national manufacturers of tableware and glassware, baggage (bags, backpacks, backpacks), eco-friendly products (biodegradable, recycled, recyclable, etc.), wheels (bicycles, tricycles, electric mobility) and wooden toys.

-Textile: incorporates national manufacturers of clothing, footwear, towels, sheets and home textile products.

-Electro: the supermarket chain is targeting domestic appliance and technology manufacturers.

“We have to continue accompanying micro, small and medium-sized companies in their initiatives and development, working together to bring their products closer to the 500,000 clients who visit us daily in the 22 provinces of the country where we have branches,” he said. And he added: “It is an opportunity that will allow to promote local production, generate employment and reach Argentine families with regional, accessible and quality products.”.

Carrefour currently works together with more than 400 food SMEs that sell their products throughout the chain. “With the first national call for SMEs, Carrefour will continue to promote productive development and raise the quality standards of its strategic allies,” the firm highlighted.

Carrefour Argentina has a team made up of 17,000 people, every day it receives 500,000 customers in its 600 Express, Market, Hypermarkets, Market and Maxi branches, including its e-commerce.
