One of the screenwriters of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Michael Valdron, recently announced that the Earth’s Archmage, in his opinion, is “Indiana Jones in a Cloak.” Elizabeth Olsen, who portrays Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel films, disagreed with this comparison. She believes that Stephen Strange is darker than the famous archaeologist.
I think [Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness] is scarier than Indiana Jones. The film will feel the style of Sam Raimi. Maybe that was the goal, but I think it definitely became something darker … Yes, the horror genre has a sense of constant fear, awe and tension. And working with the camera and the depth of field perspective aims to heighten the anxiety of the viewers. I think this is more than a glossy Indiana Jones movie. I love him very much, but here everything will be darker – said Olsen.
Even during the announcement of the work on the sequel to “Doctor Strange”, the authors noted that it would be “the scariest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” The invitation to the post of director Raimi, who created the Evil Dead franchise, definitely benefited the horror component of the film.
Given the events of the Wanda / Vision miniseries, fans are counting on the Scarlet Witch to become the antagonist of the Doctor Strange sequel, but there has been no confirmation of these rumors.
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is slated to premiere on March 24 next year.
