Of Matilde Filippi, Class 1^ B. – Dear readers, I would like to dedicate this article to a young American actress who, although very young, has become famous for her interpretation of Max in the famous TV series Stranger Things. Her father is a rugby coach and her mother is a maths teacher. She was born in the Town of Brenham in Washington County in the State of Texas in 2002. If you still haven’t figured out who she is, then it remains for me to reveal that I am referring to Sadie Elizabeth Sink. Her whole family plays sports but she, since she was a child, has chosen to follow her passion for show business and began attending a theater near Houston. At the age of seven she starred in the children’s play ‘The Best Christmas’ and, after an audition, got the lead in the play ‘The Secret Garden’. She walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week, appearing for the first time at 15. In the same year she was included in the list of 30 celebrities under 18 by “The Hollywood Reporter”, while “Variety” credited her in the ‘Young Hollywood Up Next Report and the following year she received a minor role in the horror film “Eli ” . Since her passion for acting had further consolidated in her, she decided to definitively pursue a career as an actress. Between 2011 and 2012 she performed in plays at the ‘Theatre Under Stars of Houston’ in the musicals ‘White Christmas’ and the lead role of Annie in Revival on Broadway. Another important role she played in 2015 is that of Kimberly in the well-known film “The Blender – The Story of the True Roky Balboa”. Subsequently there was an appearance of her in an episode of the Sitcom created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock entitled: “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmid”. In 2016 she played the role of the young Lori Walls in the biographical film “The Glass Castle” of the dramatic genre based on the memoir where there is a script full of emotional nuances. In 2017 she joined the famous Netflix TV series ‘Stranger Things’ in the part of Maxinne, known as Max Mayfield, starting from the Second Season. Thanks to this role she achieved international success receiving 2 nominations for the ‘Screen Actor Guild Award’ for best cast in a drama series. The following year she collaborated with: Sia, Kat von D, Joaquin Phoemix and Roonei Mara on the narration of ‘Dominion’ an Australian documentary based on the life of animals. In 2021 she played the lead role of Christine Ziggy Berman, in the Horror trilogy Fear Street, however she appears in Fear Street Part 2: 1978 and Fear Street Part 3: 1666. Thanks to her excellent performance in this role she receives much praise from the criticism. In the same year she starred with American actor Dylan O’Brien in the short film “All To Well: The Short Film” directed by Taylor Swift. In 2022 she starred in the drama film Dear Zoe, then in the film “The Whall” directed by Darren Aronofsky, which then had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival where it received a standing ovation of 6 minutes and in addition she was proposed a nomination for the ‘Critic’ Choice Award’, as best young performer.
