After suffering a $60 million loss, Dwayne Johnson is planning a special surprise for the 2024 XFL.

American football’s minor league XFL has seen some ups and downs. It was previously owned by Vince McMahon, the owner of WWE. In mid-2020, it was purchased by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia. Johnson had a personal interest in the XFL. Since he couldn’t play in the NFL, he made sure that high-level coaches and players who couldn’t make it to the NFL got a chance in the XFL.

However, despite the support of the star, the league could not avoid losses. In 2023, the XFL and Johnson suffered a whopping $60 million in losses. But the star may have a way to cover those losses.

Johnson’s return to WWE could be a boon for the XFL

Fans on SmackDown last week were surprised by The Rock’s return. Moreover, no one expected his return. The star posted a clip of her explosive entrance from her point of view. Johnson can be seen walking through the curtains as the crowd cheers. Within just a few hours of being posted, the video had amassed over 5 million views, a testament to the star’s power.

This particular segment generated a lot of buzz. While Johnson’s POV clip caused quite a stir, the same could be said for other clips of his appearance. A video released by WWE showing Brahma Bull walking towards the ring has also gone viral. Since its publication, the video has received a total of 6.4 million views. And the biggest reason might be the fact that fans couldn’t get enough of his iconic work. This was proven when fans flocked to the comments section of a clip posted by Johnson to say how “exciting” his performance was.

Because of this, Cody Latimer, who plays for the Orlando Guardians in the XFL, had a special request for the star. Addressing Johnson, he responded to the clip by saying:“We need this entry on opening day of @xfl next season.”

Johnson’s plan for the XFL

Johnson responded to Latimer’s comment: “That’s exactly what we were thinking!” His answer opened up a number of opportunities for both Johnson and the XFL. Fans won’t expect a “surprise” appearance from him as he pretty much owns the league and his presence there can be assumed. What cannot be assumed, however, are two things.

Everyone knows that Johnson used to play American football and was even supposed to be drafted into the NFL. He had a great career in the Canadian Football League. However, due to numerous injuries, he had to leave. But he still loves the game. So what if his special includes a little action on the set?

Another possibility could be a surprise visit from any of his fellow WWE stars. Dwayne Johnson may have unknowingly revealed the secret ingredient that will break records with his recent experience in the WWE. Perhaps he could use the same formula in the field to increase XFL viewership. However, following this comment there has been a lot of speculation about what his next course of action will be.
