Agatha Harkness: WandaVision spinoff reportedly delayed

Agatha: Coven of Chaos will no longer be broadcast on Disney+ in 2023.

After reporting that Loki Season 2 and Secret Invasion they were the only series Marvel Disney+ due out 100% in 2023, industry insider KC Walsh revealed on Twitter that fans “will have to wait a bit for Agatha for story reasons,” with the next series’ release date of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which will switch from winter 2023 to “TBD”. Production on Coven of Chaos began in January 2023 under the working title “My Pretty,” inspired by the Wizard of Oz, and is expected to wrap in late April.

After debuting in the role of Agatha Harkness/”Agnes” into Wanda Vision, Kathryn Hahn returns to play Agatha in the next series Disney+While Debra Jo Rupp, Emma Caulfield Ford, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Kate Forbes And Brian Brightman reprise their respective roles from the 2021 Disney+ limited series. The actors making their MCU debut in Agatha: Coven of Chaos include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Eric André, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Patti LuPone, Miles Gutierrez-Riley And Okwui Okpokwasili.

The first of two WandaVision spinoffs

In addition to Agatha: Coven of Chaosi Marvel Studios are developing a second spinoff of Wanda Visioncurrently titled Vision Questwhich will be a solo project for the Vision of Paul Bettany. While plot details are scarce, the Disney+ series will reportedly “focus on The Vision’s attempt to regain his memory and his humanity.” While no further casting has been announced, sources have indicated a “chance” of a return Elizabeth Olsen in the role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Vision Quest would mark the Scarlet Witch’s first appearance after that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness of 2022, which ended with the apparent death of the character. Both spinoffs are overseen by WandaVision creator, writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos isn’t the only MCU Disney+ series to be impacted by Marvel Studios’ decision to spend more time on the creative and post-production aspects of its projects. Echo And Ironheartrespectively spinoffs of Hawkeye And Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, have been delayed and will no longer debut in 2023 as originally thought. Even series in development, such as Novamay be slowed down. However, Daredevil: Born Againwith Charlie Cox And Vincent D’Onofriois still on track to debut an 18-episode first season in early 2024.
