As the alma mater of Michael Jordan, the University of North Carolina has access to a host of exclusive iterations of Jordan Brand’s iconic lifestyle and court footwear. After the synonymous “Varsity Blue” hue replaced the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG last summer, the first retro model returns to Chapel Hill in a colorway reserved exclusively for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
A gift to the women’s basketball team, this high-top trim echoes the two-tone color blocking of the 2013 mid-top silhouette. Featuring exposed trim along the rich leather panels, a crisp White hue lands across the base layer, laces and tongue, while UNC logos appear on both tongue tags. The remaining space of the silhouette is entirely dressed in the sky blue hue synonymous with the school, consuming the fabric of the tread, various upper overlays, and lining.
The Air Jordan 1 “UNC” PE will not be releasing more broadly, but will be created exclusively for members of the school’s basketball program. However, you can take a closer look at the pair below.
For more retro releases, the Jordan 3 “Fear” will be available on November 25th.
