Federal Police spokesman Thomas Gerbert stated in his statement to the German News Agency (DPA) that an armed person entered the airport apron by breaking the door with his vehicle at Hamburg Airport at around 20:00 local time.
Explaining that the person who fired his gun twice into the air may have had two children in his car, Gerbert noted that the person’s wife had previously reported to state police a possible child abduction.
Gerbert pointed out that aircraft traffic stopped at Hamburg Airport and that many police officers were at the scene.
