It was Heard’s first appearance at a film festival since her controversial defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, which ran from April 11 to June 1, 2022.
“Thank you for such an incredibly warm welcome at the Taormina Film Festival for my latest film In the Fire. It was an unforgettable weekend. #inthefire,” Heard, 37, captioned the post, which was her first post on Instagram since December 2022.
“Yes. There she is ✨,” read a comment from Luca Calvani, who was with Heard in Thriller and also appeared at the festival with Heard and her director, Connor Allyn.

Calvani had similar words for the actress, telling Deadline, “Someone who’s endured such hardship and been able to overcome it with grace, no matter which side you’re on, no matter what you believe or what social media outlets you plug into or whatever your hashtags are, you have to give credit to this woman’s incredible journey, and she can teach us a few things as far as resilience and courage go.”
