Underworld director and creator Len Wiseman spoke about Kate Beckinsale’s importance in the saga.
Today we celebrate 20 years since the release of the first chapter of the saga. Underworldand the director and creator of the project, Len Wiseman, spoke about the decisive contribution made by the main character Kate Beckinsale.
Here are his words:
She had never done anything like this before. She created a different type of movie because you don’t associate her with an action star, so dealing with Kate was new and exciting. He brought so much to this character and it was a pretty quick process. I remember being surprised that she liked the script because she had never done it before and it worked so well. I think he was trying to find his rhythm and we were looking for someone new, and it all came together quite naturally.
The first Underworld also saw Len Wiseman make his directorial debut, leading to a project that earned nearly $100 million worldwide and developed a small cult following.
