Ant-Man 3 saves itself from the negative record at the box office, and remains at the top of the charts

FILM INFORMATION

Sigh of relief for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantummaniawhich with the takings on Saturday 25 recovered slightly and managed to save ai Marvel Studios the less than flattering record of the worst box office drop for a superhero film.

After a very rich $118 million debut in North America over President’s Day weekend, this weekend Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantummania risked a sensational drop of -70%which would have been the worst in the history of superhero films: with a last-second leap, however, thanks to the receipts of Saturday the 25th, the Marvel film managed to recover just enough to avoid the negative primacy, with a expected drop now to -69% in second weekend from $32.2 million.

It is however the worst second-weekend drop in Marvel Studios historyhigher than that of Black Widowwhich in 2021 claimed this ‘record’ with a drop of -67.8% (although the film with Scarlett Johansson was released at the same time on Disney Plus) and also to that of Thor: Love and Thunder, which decreased by -67.7% last year. The decline of Quantummania rivals that of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (-69%) but remains lower than that of Hulk by Ang Lee, which fell by -69.7%. Clearly, these are always market analyzes that will have to be confirmed in the official numbers when they are collected after the counting of the receipts on Sunday 26, so stay tuned to find out more.

In the general ranking of receipts, however, Ant Man 3 remains at the top of the box officewith the debut of Cocainbear in the USA that reaches the second position with an opening of 23 million.
