Anthony Davis turned in another stellar defensive performance and Austin Reeves continued to thrive in a sixth man role as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Houston Rockets by a final score of 107-97 on Saturday night.
Davis made 10 of 22 shots and scored 27 points and 14 rebounds. As Los Angeles’ rim protector, he blocked five shots, his third-highest total of the season.
Reeves, meanwhile, led all substitutes with 18 points in just 22 minutes of playing time. The 25-year-old also performed well on the defensive end, tying a career-high with three steals.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lakers trailed by 5 points. In the second quarter, the Lakers led the Rockets by 21 points, 60-44. LeBron James struggled with his jump shot, although he made 7 of 13 shots from inside the three-point line and finished with 16 points and 7 assists.
Lakers fans were impressed with the team’s all-around performance.
With the win, the Lakers improved to 12-9 on the season as the team continues to recover from a sluggish start to the season with 3 wins and 5 losses. Although the Rockets went 6-3 through their first nine games of the season, they went the other way, falling to an 8-9 record.
