Antonino Porzio, returns to Italia Uno with “Back to School”: the exclusive interview with 361Magazine
The actor Antonino Porzio he has become a familiar face on television. In recent years the actor has ranged from one project to another, but every Thursday we see him in prime time on Italia Uno in the “Back to School” program. For the second edition that began on 5 April, Antonino plays the role of janitor.

In a long interview, Antonino told himself by revealing many projects of his career and unpublished episodes related to the new edition of “Back to School”.
From former army officer to actor what was the spark of this turning point?
«The spark was the passion for the actor and the show. Even if the first step was the tourist villages where I transmitted energy and charge to all the guests of the village. From there, the transition to TV and film sets».
Since 2014 he has been a teacher of acting at the Cinecittà School of Florence…
«The role of teacher at the Independent Cinema School of Florence is a role of responsibility and I see in my pupils the tenacity and perseverance that I too had at their age… my goal for them, in addition to training, is to give more possible notions and experiences to avoid making my own mistakes! It was fantastic and a lot of satisfaction when on a set of a television commercial I found myself with a student of mine who held a primary role and I secondary … it is true that the student surpasses the Master, today’s young people are more cunning and intelligent than us as children…”
He is on air every week on “Back to school” in the role of janitor: how did this adventure begin?
«The Back to School adventure I hold close to my heart. He gave me so much and I found a fantastic production, how fantastic is the relationship that has been created with the maestros of both editions. I like having the nickname “the janitor of Italia Uno”. My role on the Campus allows me to be spontaneous and gives me the opportunity to be a trait d’union between teachers and repeaters».
Can you tell us some episodes of the path to “Back to School”?
«I remember many episodes that happened to me at Back to school, first of all the meeting with my Palermo idol Totò Schillaci. His arrival on the Campus was memorable, my enthusiasm skyrocketing and the perplexity of the teachers who did not know the player of the Italia 90 World Cup. Another scene that always remains alive to me is when the shooting ends and with the teachers arrive hugs and tears for a wonderful adventure together…».
With which contestant of the two editions did you stay in touch even off the set?
«During my stay on the Campus there is respect for the roles between janitor and tutor, a hospitable and formal relationship is formed. I can say that I treat them all the same way..».
Not only television, but also cinema and music videos, you collaborated with Angelina Jolie, and recently with Fedez, Berti and Achille Lauro in the video clip “Mille”: what do you remember about the two unpublished projects?
«They were two beautiful projects. The first at international level with a highly armored set. The second is a national hit with more than 100,000,000 views. I am grateful for these work experiences and sometimes a bit of luck is also needed.».
Of your professional career: what was the experience that left your mark?
«All the work carried out remained alive in my mind and formed me. But if I had to choose one I would definitely say “Back to School”».
Do you have a secret dream?
«I have so many dreams in my drawer: first of all to conduct a television program for children and then to shoot a film as an actor in my beautiful Palermo and why not, participate in a reality show».
