Plot of the film
Giovanni’s young life came to a halt in the summer of 1984 in San Giovanni, during the collective grief over the death of Enrico Berlinguer, caused by a flagpole, which ended tragically in his head. After 31 years, he comes out of a coma, and it’s like a new rebirth, already in adulthood. Everything has changed, the world he left behind has disappeared: his family, his girlfriend, his favorite party – everything in this new era has been turned upside down. Giovanni is like a fifty year old child, he must learn to move in this new dimension, accepting also the loss of old connections and the discovery of new ones. He is assisted by Julia, a troubled young nun who took care of him during his last years of hospitalization, and Leo, a troubled boy with selective mutism. Thanks to them, Giovanni, in addition to resuming normal life functions, will find a way to understand his new existence and face the past, which will return in the form of Francesca, the daughter he had in a previous life.
