Nicole Kidman made a splash among DC Universe fans as Atlanna in the first film. Aquaman. According to director James Wan, the sequel allowed him to expand Kidman’s role as a mentor to Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
It was recently revealed that Willem Dafoe will not be returning as Arthur Curry Wulko’s mentor. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, leading many to wonder who Jason Momoa will be working with throughout the film. According to James Wan, Dafoe’s absence allowed him to expand Nicole Kidman’s role as Atlanna in the upcoming sequel:
“Willem is not here, no,” said Van. electronic warfare. “Part of the reason was that his schedule didn’t suit us. But it allowed me to expand Atlanna’s role. Atlanna eventually becomes Arthur’s advisor. Since Arthur is not from this world, she helps him better understand the world and the politics of how things work.”
Fans will certainly be pleased with Nicole Kidman’s expanded role in the film. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom given her relatively minor role in its predecessor. Although the film is only two hours long, it’s unclear how big a role Atlanna will play in Arthur Curry’s journey.
The Future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told reporters that their vision for the DC Universe includes closed scripts, wiggle room and a single storyline for projects in film, television, animation and video games. They explained that the DC Universe may bring back elements from previous DC modes, meaning their eight-year plan is not a complete reboot.
