WALK IN MONTEVERDE
Departure from the totem bar of the arena
For more than two years, a voluntary group called “MuoviMonteverde” has been created in the Monteverde region, the main goal of which is to popularize the practice of walking with an assistant among the inhabitants of the region absolutely free of charge.
It is well known that aerobic exercise, and in particular walking, performed in a group and in nature, has a positive effect on our physical and mental systems. Relative dynamics has been tracked by group admins for some time, including to better capture people’s needs and how to meet them.
Using the stage provided by the municipality XII as part of the “Arena Cinevillage Monteverde” event, the group intends to offer those present some elements of knowledge and participation in the benefits of walking, especially if it is practiced in a cumulative form and in a natural form. environment, as well as to promote moments and events of active participation in the knowledge of our area, through targeted walks on specific topics (sites of the battle of 1849, places where Pasolini stayed, etc…)
Friday, August 25 – 18:45.
INTERVIEW WITH VOLTAIRE
Educational talk written by Riccardo Cocetti
and plays Severino Briccarello AND Rodolfo Traversa
offered by the Café Voltaire Association
Totem Bar
On November 21, 1694, François-Marie Arouet, known as Voltaire, was born in Paris. He will die there at the age of eighty-four on May 20, 1778, after a life spent in exile after exile because of his positions against the Church and authoritarian power: on his sarcophagus, kept in the Paris Panthéon, we read “poet, historian and philosopher, uplifted the spirit of the people and taught them that they should be free.”
Father of the Enlightenment and the inspirer of the principles that formed the basis of the French Revolution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, he was a staunch defender of the oppressed, fought with inexhaustible fury against religious fanaticism, intolerance, prejudice and ignorance, always supported the vital need to learn, to allow oneself to be guided by reason and resort to a critical spirit against any form of conformism.
In addition to glimpses of his long and eventful life, the text also allows us to imagine Voltaire still alive and able to interpret our present with a certain insight, very relevant reflections on topics such as Europe, vaccines and war. and the damage that continues today, stemming from intolerance, nationalism and religious fundamentalism.
Indeed, as Habermas, Europe’s greatest contemporary Enlightenment thinker, suggests, “The Enlightenment remains an unfinished project of modernity”… and what is at stake is the preservation of what a world of free and autonomous citizens can establish.” .
Readings have previously been offered to the public at the construction sites of Rubattino in Testaccio, Casa dei Bimbi in Garbatella, under the patronage of the VIII Town Hall, and more recently, in November 2022, at the Teatro Villa Pamfilou.
The performance is complemented by musical works by Rameau, Charpentier, Genen, Campra, Gossec, Bach, Perez, Delaland, Couperin, Royer.
Saturday, August 26 – 19:30.
JAZZ CONCERT
Alessandra Della Porta – voice
Lorenzo Bucci – guitar
Giordano Panizza – double bass
The newly formed musical trio reimagines the great jazz standards of yesteryear in a ticklish tonality. The atmosphere of another time, but fresh and sincere. Ringing manush guitar and dark, finely tuned double bass intertwine with a clear, nimble voice for an intense and fun ride!
