For the first time, the Archive of the Province of Modena participates in the Arquivissima, a festival dedicated to the promotion of archival heritage, this year dedicated to the theme of travel. On 9 June 2023, to celebrate the International Day of Archives, the Palazzo della Provincia will be open to the public, together with other Modena institutions participating in the initiative, as part of the sixth edition of Archivissima, the national festival that aims to increase is devoted. Archival Heritage, from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 June, on the occasion of International Archives Day, promoted by the ICA (International Council of Archives).
From 17 to 21, on the third floor of the headquarters in Viale Martiri della Libertà 34, it will be possible to visit the exhibition “Modena’s journey towards the Apennines: documents and maps from the historical collections of the Province of Modena”. A model of the Maranello-Pavullo Electrovia.
Thanks to this event, through a mix of different languages and media, the general public can come into contact with the heritage and stories preserved in historical archives.
In addition to the Archive of the Province of Modena, other archives belonging to the Modena network of archives join the Arquivissima 2023 with their own initiatives, including the National Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Modena, the Unmig Modena Archive, the State of Modena. , Beeper Banca Historical Collection, Historical Collection of the Municipality of Modena, Diocesan Historical Collection of Modena-Nonnantola, Women’s Documentation Center, Burana Reclamation Consortium, San Carlo College Foundation, Institute Historical Center of Modena and Historical Archival Center Unione Terre di Castelli.
