From 21st April to 1st May 2023on the Pinarella beach of Cervia, 250 designers and pilots selected among the most significant interpreters of a millenary tradition in constant dialogue with the environment, join a over 2000 enthusiasts for the 43rd edition of ARTEVENTO CERVIAthe original festival dedicated to kites and the environmentbecome cult meeting so much for the promoters ofwind art that for lovers of tourism greens and of sustainable creativity. The most complete review of art, ethnic, historical, giant, sports, acrobatic and fighter kites in simultaneous flight in dedicated areas, to dive into the magic of a practice born over 2500 years ago.

In the enchanting location at the southern gates of the Po Delta Parkbetween salt marshes, pine forest and sea, since 1981 takes place on first event dedicated to the world to kite flying as an art form: it is precisely in Cervia, in fact, that the “artists of the wind”, new voices of a avant-garde poetic languageyet rooted in the history of humanity, have found their chosen homeland over the course of more than four decades, experimenting the effectiveness of this original medium artistic. International artists who have made art history of the caliber of Jackie Matisse, Yayoi Kusama, Tal Streeter, Mimmo Paladino, Robert Rauschenberg, Curt Asker, Niki de Saint Phalle, Emilio Vedova, Karl Otto Götz, Jean Tinguely, Tom Wesselmann, Kazuo Shiraga (whose kite was sold by the Nagel auction house in Berlin last February for a record €1,140,000) and many others have used the kite as a means of artistic expressioncreating real works of art.

ARTEVENTO CERVIA celebrates for the 43rd consecutive edition the reason that made it the destination of an indispensable pilgrimage, namely the fact of represent the cradle of a specific artistic current who has found his “place of the soul” on the beach of Cervia. They will be 11 days full of unique events, suitable for a heterogeneous audience and viewers of all ages and abilities; scheduled displays of artistic, ethnic, historical and giant kites, aerobatic flight displays to the rhythm of music, multidisciplinary theater-dance and contemporary circus performances, exhibitions, educational workshops, nocturnal exhibitions, Ceremony of the Flags, Special Award for Flight Merits, Night of Miracles, STACK Italia acrobatic flight championship, installations, air sculpturesmarket, food area and much more.

The Festival of Cultures

There will be 50 participating delegations from 5 continents to promote peace, inclusion and environmental sustainability, with 11 days unmissable show. ARTEVENTO CERVIA for 2023 will welcome how Guests of Honor the young ambassadors of culture maori in the group world Kaimatariki Trust & Te Kura O Hirangiarriving in Cervia from Turangi city. Welcomed in Italy with the patronage of New Zealand Embassy in Rome, the Maori delegation composed of 27 performers will be the protagonist, on the beach of Pinarella, of one extraordinary showwhich includes, along with the presentation of the anthropomorphic aboriginal kiteAlso performances Of kapa haka (performance of various Maori songs and dances) and chanting waiata on the central stage of the Festival Village and the meeting with the public at the Maori tentlocated in the center of the Wind Fair.

The main theme of the 43rd edition of ARTEVENTO CERVIA will be the tribute to the collection “Images for the sky (created in 1989 by Paul Eubel under the aegis of the Goethe-Institut of Osaka) with the presentation of the restoration of Mimmo Paladino’s kite commissioned by the same artist to Dr In the Poggi Paris, one of the leading experts in the conservation and restoration of works of art on paper. Consultant of Dr. Poggi, as a scholar of history and culture of the kite, Caterina Capelli art director of ARTEVENTO CERVIA, followed the entire process of the restoration operation starting from its presentation, which took place in the prestigious headquarters of the Vatican museums, during a conference that also emphasized the role of the Cervia festival as the main international observatory on the art of wind energy. On the kite built by Japanese masters Kazuo Tamura And Shoei Ogasawara, the artist from Campania Mimmo Paladino he chose to represent a Vitruvian man with donkey ears surrounded by symbolic presences and gold brushstrokes, adding to the poetic value of the support the strength of a metaphorical representation that is essential and powerful at the same time.

To the Master of the Wind Masaaki Satoprotagonist of the sideshow of the 43rd edition with the patronage of the Japanese Cultural Institute, ARTEVENTO CERVIA assigns the Special Award for Flight Merits 2023, delivered over the years to personalities who promote environmental and social sustainability such as, among others, Lucio Dalla, Tonino Guerra, Franco Arminio and Gherardo Colombo. Master Sato, with the contribution ofcicada kite made for the Viennese artist Hundertwasserfigured among the Master custodians of the ancient art of the Japanese kite involved in “Images for the sky”, of which he is, to all intents and purposes, one of the last precious witnesses. ARTEVENTO CERVIA over the years has confirmed its success thanks to a rich and unique format of its kind. Also for 2023 ARTEVENTO CERVIA will present different sections and themed events:

Kite Aerial Photography

A unique exhibition of wind artists, ARTEVENTO CERVIA is precisely for this reason an unmissable appointment for the most extraordinary interpreters of KAP, i.e. the practice consisting in creating aerial photographs using a device brought to its height by a kite as the meaning of theacronym KAP: Kite Aerial Photography.

Practiced for 136 years other than how medium artistic especially in the field of archeology, geology and zoology, KAP is represented at ARTEVENTO CERVIA by its undisputed Masters and by a large group of enthusiasts determined to prefer the ecological flight of the kite to the more impactful solution of the drone for reasons of sustainability as well as artistic poetics.

Created during the festival, the reportages set in the most identifying locations in the area in turn become an opportunity for insights, as in the case of the collateral exhibition dedicated to the undisputed master of aerial photography Wolfgang Bieck (Germany), set in the context of the suggestive industrial archeology sector of the Magazzini del Sale, in the historic center of the city of Cervia.

Flying for peace, in support of the environment

Praising the motto “we are the rainbow”, the festival dedicated to wind art chooses all the colors of the rainbow as its flag for celebrate pluralism, dialogue and inclusion as tools of peaceidentifying at the same time, in that colorful bridge between earth and sky, the emblem of a sacred relationship between man and the environment, the perfect prodrome of the environmentalist spirit that makes this spring event the great celebration of sustainability.

Right on common file of sustainability, the festival will dedicate some artistic and informative insights into the bee, pollinator insect emblem of the rebirth and renewal of nature. ARTEVENTO thus celebrates the educational value of the gaming experience and the effectiveness of active learning through i Educational workshops of the Kite Museumchoosing the bee as the symbol of the training course dedicated to the little ones: a real kite school.
