With Julio Urias still on administrative leave following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to distance themselves from the left-hander.

Earlier this month, Urias’ locker at Dodger Stadium was transferred to Kolten Wong, who recently joined the team as the team expanded its roster.

The Dodgers then replaced the Urías World Baseball Classic bobblehead giveaway that had been scheduled for Sept. 21, and jerseys, T-shirts and other merchandise bearing his name and number 7 were taken out of retail stores and stands throughout Chavez Ravine.

The Dodgers also covered all of the Urias murals at Dodger Stadium, including a 2020 World Series painting in right field on the box level that features Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner. The mural has since been updated by artist Jonas Nevers, with Austin Barnes and Will Smith now taking Urias’ place.

Urias was arrested outside BMO Stadium on September 3 following the conclusion of a soccer match between Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Inter Miami, which received national attention because of Lionel Messi.

Urias was released on $50,000 bail with a court date set for Sept. 27. Although he has not been charged, his Dodgers career is likely over. MLB’s investigation could extend beyond the 2023 season, with Urias expected to become a free agent this winter.

MLB’s investigation into Julio Urias’ arrest could ‘take on some time’

While the typical length of administrative leave is seven to 10 days, MLB and the Players Association (MLBPA) may jointly agree to extend it. In Urias’ case, MLB announced from the outset that his time on the restricted list was indeterminate.

Due to ongoing investigations by the Los Angeles Police Department and MLB, the Dodgers have no choice but to wait out the process. Manager Dave Roberts admitted he doesn’t expect a quick fix.
