At the end of Avengers: Endgame the well-known super team loses two leaders like Iron Man and Captain America: Stark dies, Cap retires. Most of the Avengers veterans remain on earth, dealing with their enemies, while the rest are scattered in the cosmos.
As we have seen in Love and thunder, Thor is busy defending New Asgard from Gorr the slaughterer of Gods; and no one has any idea who Peter Parker is anymore (Spider-Man: No Way Homeends with all of humanity forgetting Parker – but not Spider-Man, crucial detail).
Phase four brought some exciting news: in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness America Chavez, powerful traveler of the multiverse, prepares with Wong and the surviving wizards of Doctor Strange; meanwhile Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marks the debut of Riri “Ironheart” Williams and Shuri (Letitia Wright) inherits the mantle of Black Panther from her brother, who died before the events narrated in the film.
However, everyone must prepare as soon as possible. As we have seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummaniaa ruthless new band of clones is banding together in order to defeat the Avengers forever: they are a group of variants of the multiverse of Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), and appear as the most serious threat to interstellar stability since the times in which Thanos had snapped his fleshy blue fingers.
Even if the conflict with the Avengers is not yet defined, the situation will certainly evolve in the direction of an epic battle.
Who are the remaining Avengers?
We currently have:
Ant-Man (Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd)
Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch)
Wong (Mage Supreme, played by Benedict Wong)
Captain America (Sam “Falcon” Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie)
Hawkeye (no, not Clint Barton, but his young protégé, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld)
Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo, who mentors Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk)
Spider-Man (Tom Holland)
Bucky “Winter Soldier” Barnes (Sebastian Stan)\
Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever donned the mantle of Black Panther (after the death of his brother, T’Challa, and the real-world disappearance of actor Chadwick Boseman). We have yet to find out, however, what kind of relationship he will have with the Avengers.
Captain Marvel is somewhere in the cosmos, and so is Thor.
Who knows, probably you can still count on their arrival at any moment. Meanwhile, Wanda Maximoff may have somehow died after that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessbut this too remains to be ascertained.
Who could get into the Avengers in the movies The Kang Dynasty And Secret Wars?
Here’s a beautiful detail for comic book fans: since we’re dealing with the multiverse saga, the possibilities for the evolution of events and the inclusion of known superheroes are literally endless. At Comic-Con this past July, Marvel added a handful of new films and series to its slate, and revealed release dates for some previously announced projects. A highly anticipated title is Blade, which premieres Mahershala Ali as the title vampire killer; the tv series Daredevil: Born Again, arriving in 2024, will bring the blind super warrior (Charlie Cox) into mainstream Marvel headquarters. And Daredevil is already an Avenger in many comic book storylines.
Then there are the protégés of the current Avengers: it is very probable that America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), the powerful jumper of the multiverse who debuted in Doctor Strange 2will be one of the main Avengers upon the release of The Kang Dynasty. Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani) will not remain only an impersonator of Captain Marvel: the two could participate together in the upcoming film The Marvels. And even She-Hulk could be in the game. Then, there’s Riri “Ironheart” Williams (Dominique Thorne), the genius teen with the Iron Man-inspired metal exoskeleton who came to the rescue in the battle between Wakanda and Namor’s Talokan.
Finally, let’s not forget the multiverse. We’ve already had three Spider-Men… shouldn’t a threat as dangerous as Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) guarantee the return of the triplet? Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed more than $1.9 billion at the global box office, it wouldn’t be strange if Disney wanted to bring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back on the field as soon as possible.
We could be very wrong, but if we were to guess who will be part of the Avengers in 2025, we believe the list could look something like this:
- Ant-Man
- The Wasp
- Doctor Strange
- Wong
- America Chavez
- Captain America (Sam Wilson)
- Kate “Hawkeye” Bishop
- She-Hulk
- Tom Holland as Spider-Man, perhaps with the help of some friends…
- Captain Marvel
- Ms Marvel
- Dare devil
- Blade
- Ironheart
- Black Panther
With a fourth installment of Spider-Man due out in the next few years, and the rise of Tom Holland’s character in the franchise following the exits of RDJ and Chris Evans, one would think that Spidey would don the captain’s armband in future sequels. of the Avengers. In a recent interview, Anthony Mackie denied that he could become the new Captain America, declaring that Sam is “a normal guy who goes around with a bunch of crazy people … which could be a problem when you go to fight someone like Thanos” . Or, in this case, against thousands of Kang clones.
In the meantime there could be a lot of unforeseen events, the chances of accuracy of this line-up are very few. But at least we got an idea…
In The Kang Dynasty And Secret Wars could there also be the Magnificent 4, Guardians of the Galaxy and the Thunderbolts?
Here’s the thing… It’s not just the Avengers anymore. We know the first Marvel Family will be officially introduced to the MCU in 2024, in time for the Avengers double-star, following John Krasinski’s cameo as Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
We have already met the Guardians in Thor: Love and Thunder. They continue to do their job, and depending on what will happen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we expect everyone to turn against Kang. (Although it is rumored, sadly, that one or two of them may end up in the process). Why shouldn’t they take sides, after having had an important collective weight in the defeat of Thanos?
Finally, the Thunderbolts… you probably have no idea who they are, right? They’re a team of repentant super-villains who come to the rescue from time to time, and they have a movie coming out in mid-2024. They’re Marvel’s answer to the Suicide Squad, without bombs in their brains. The group includes the likes of Yelena Belova, Florence Pugh’s assassin, David Harbor as the hungover Russian version of Captain America, Alexei Shostakov, and John Walker, the villainous version of the Cap, played by Wyatt Russell.
