Baby name experts say ‘feminine’ choices for boys will be a top trend in 2024

According to Nameberry experts, using feminine names for boys will be one of the top trends in 2024.

Analysts examined new trends in the names parents choose for their newborns and found some common themes, Wales Online reports.

According to the website, 2024 will see a variety of upcoming baby name trends, including more “feminine” unisex names for boys and more “serious” names like Stanley and Martha.

Nameberry explained, “Boys’ names are going through a seismic change this year. Parents are returning their sons to predominantly female, unisex names, as Chrissy Teigen and John Legend did for their son Ren.”

The site’s 2024 predictions note other trends, including “feminist” names for girls and natural names like Flora. Sky-related names such as Aura, Ciel, Azure, and Sol may become popular, as well as “protagonist energy” names such as Avalon, Anakin, Athena, Asriel, Everest, The Chosen, Neo, Jeston, Thaddeus, and Zaire.

Sophie Kim of Nameberry said: “Baby name trends for 2024 are less about names and more about first names. Today, parents use baby names to express their values, aesthetics and, of course, identity. Growing up online, new parents are realizing the power of a name to create a brand that defines their children and themselves.”

She continued, “Parenting trends influencing baby naming trends include an emphasis on gender and racial diversity, maturing baby styles, and a move toward gentle parenting.

“Parents know that they need to name not only their babies, but also the adults they will become. They are sensitive to their children’s feelings and value both good taste and individuality.”
