Barack Obama, Eddie Vedder and Magic Johnson celebrate Bulls Ring of Honor – NBC Sports Chicago

Presented by Nationwide Insurance Agent Jeff Vukovich

Obviously, when you need help honoring history, you turn to some huge names.

As part of the Chicago Bulls’ Ring of Honor festivities this week, the team recruited some heavy hitters to write about the inductees. There’s nothing bigger than the eulogy former President Barack Obama wrote for Michael Jordan.

That article, along with tributes to Dennis Rodman and Magic Johnson’s tribute to Scottie Pippen by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and others, will be unveiled Wednesday in the East Atrium of the United Center as Classes are part of a fan-friendly experience commemorating the inaugural game.

The atrium will feature all 13 individual honorees and memorabilia from the 1995-96 team that won a then-record 72 games and is currently open to full attendance.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver penned this article to pay tribute to the 1995-96 team. Other authors include:

—Jerry Colangelo on former Bulls owner Dick Klein

—Doug Collins on Chet Walker

—Neil Funk on Johnny “Red” Kerr

—Pau Gasol on Toni Kukoc

—Phil Jackson on Tex Winter

—Magic Johnson on Scottie Pippen

—Pete Nordstrom on Bob Love

—Greg Popovich on Jerry Sloan

—Jerry Reinsdorf on Jerry Krause

—Bill Wilton on Artis Gilmore

——Michael Wilburn on Phil Jackson
