Raiders player to watch: Wide receiver Davante Adams. The recent targets haven’t gone as expected — just five against the Patriots — and Adams has been vocal about being an integral part of the offense. Given that Adams is one of the top two or three receivers in the league, getting Adams the ball is key to the Raiders’ success.
Bears player to watch: Quarterback Tyson Bargent. Justin Fields dislocated his right thumb against Minnesota and Bargent is expected to make his first career start. The undrafted rookie out of Division II Shepherd University in West Virginia took over after Fields exited early in the third quarter. Bargent completed 10 of 14 passes for 83 yards and an interception in his debut. He also ran for a one-yard touchdown but had two big turnovers. Bargent was sacked by safety Josh Metellus, and Jordan Hicks caught the ball 42 yards for a touchdown, making the score 19-6. With the Bears trailing by six, he threw a pass to DJ Moore with about two minutes left, and Byron Murphy Jr. caught the ball.
Key matchup: Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby vs. Bears rookie RT Darnell Wright. The Bears have been sacked 25 times against a top pass rusher. The 6-foot-6, 333-pound Wright, the 10th overall pick last spring, is expected to be at full strength against the two-time Pro Bowler. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Crosby had 5 1/2 sacks.
Key injury: Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is out after taking a snap against New England. The Raiders will hire either 15-year veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O’Connell. Additionally, Las Vegas cornerback Nate Hobbs has missed the past three games. … Bears linebacker Nate Davis (high ankle sprain) will not play after leaving last week’s game. …CB Terell Smith (mononucleosis) is out. …S Eddie Jackson (foot) exited last week’s game.
Series Notes: Fields threw his first career touchdown pass the last time these two teams met.
Stats: Raiders running back Josh Jacobs led the league in rushing last season, but he has yet to rush for at least 100 yards in his past 11 games. His last such game was a 144-yard performance against the Los Angeles Chargers on December 4. Jacobs averaged 4.9 yards per carry last season but is at 2.9 this year. … CB Amik Robertson had an opponent rating of 13.4, the lowest of any NFL defensive player with at least 10 targets. Robertson was also sacked against the Patriots. …S Tre’von Moehrig has thrown interceptions in two of his past three games. … The Raiders’ defense is tied with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers for first in the league, allowing 14 plays of 20 yards or more. …K Daniel Carlson was just one score shy of 25 field goals of 50 yards or more. If Carlson achieves that mark in Chicago, he will join Baltimore’s Justin Tucker as the only player to do so in his first 85 games. Tucker scored 28 points. …The Bears have lost 15 of 16 games. They had lost 14 straight games before winning in Washington two weeks ago. … Chicago has lost 10 straight games at Soldier Field since its win over Houston in Week 3 of last season. The team has 0 wins and 3 losses at home this year. … Only two teams have allowed more sacks than Chicago: Washington (34) and the New York Giants (33). … Moore had 51 yards receiving against Minnesota after posting a career-best 230 yards last week.
Fantasy Tip: Adams has been a thorn in the side of the Bears. In 16 games against Chicago, he had 81 catches for 1,024 yards and 10 touchdowns.
