In late March, Square Enix abruptly took off the action-adventure game Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on Steam in order to bring “important changes” to the game.
The project was removed from the store temporarily and, apparently, will be returned already in the form of a remaster. During the new release of the Xbox podcast, this was announced by its host Nick Baker, better known on the network under the nickname Spheshal_Nick.
According to an insider, information about the upcoming remaster of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was shared with him by the same source that recently talked about the restart of Quake. The announcement will supposedly take place before the end of the year, possibly at Gamescom in August or The Game Awards in December.
The original Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was released in 1999. This was the second part of the series, but the first one done in 3D. Developed by Crystal Dynamics, directed by director and lead writer Amy Hennig.
It is not yet known how big changes the remaster will receive and whether it will be released on consoles.
