“Belle” anime from Oscar nominee Mamoru Hosoda to be presented in Cannes

The 74th Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off on July 6 on the Cote d’Azur, will feature the anime “Belle” from Oscar nominee Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda. According to the “Skeptic”, that the picture will be included in the section of the prime minister, which is reported on the official website of the forum.

Belle will be the third animated feature film in Cannes 2021. Earlier, the organizers announced the premiere of the cartoon “Where is Anne Frank?” Ari Folman and The Top of the Gods by Patrick Imbert. Mamoru Hosoda will be presented in Cannes for the first time, despite the fact that his previous works have had great success, both with critics and the audience, and the picture “Mirai from the Future” was nominated for an Oscar in 2019.

Belle tells the story of a teenage girl named Suzu who lives with her father in a small mountain town. But in a virtual reality called U, she’s a music star with 5 billion followers.

The Cannes premiere of the film is scheduled for July 15. Belle is due to be released on July 16 worldwide. There are no plans for the Ukrainian distributors of the cartoon yet.
