Beyoncé and Balmain do couture together. And the result is sensational

Let’s put together one of the most famous women in the world of music (and the world in general) and a historic French maison: what will be the result?

Here you are satisfied: RENAISSANCE Couture by Beyoncé x Balmain it was unveiled a few days ago, and the result is crazy.

This is a very different project from traditional collaborations: each look is inspired by the songs from Beyoncé’s latest album, which in fact gives the collection its title. The Texan singer-songwriter was much more than a muse: for Balmain she created what the creative director defined as “a real collaboration between two creators who are both obsessed with pushing their craft to the next level”. Perfectionism and the desire to be amazed and astound, therefore.

Each of the looks correspond to songs from the album “Renaissance”: “I’m that girl,” for example, is a metal bustier by sculptor Elie Hirsch, with matching bracelets over leather gloves. Or “Cozy” is a “fireworks” dress in black velvet embroidered with pink feathers.

“This is a powerful voice that resonates. It talks about diversity, all kinds of diversity, and pays homage to the queer community, honoring house music, ballroom and voguing,” said Oliver Rousteing.

And in fact, it is the first time that a black woman has supervised a couture collection of a historic French brand and the goal is precisely to inspire many other projects of the kind in order to opening up fashion to new looks, belonging to categories of people that usually fashion tends to exclude.
