Bird flu cases surge to 120 in Brazil; more than two species of marine mammals detected in RS


Three more cases were detected this weekend, bringing the total number of cases in Brazil to 120, according to the latest information from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply platform dedicated to reporting avian influenza cases in the country. It is important to note that according to the Ministry of Health, each outbreak is an epidemiological unit with at least one confirmed case.

One of the cases occurred at the Trinta-ráis-de-bando hospital in Barra Velha, Santa Catarina state, and the other at the Trinta-ráis-de-bando hospital in Peruíbe, São Paulo. Additionally, marine mammals of the South American sea wolf and Patagonian sea lion types were diagnosed with highly pathogenic avian influenza in Santa Vitoria de Palma, Rio Grande do Sul state.

Total non-Brazilian avian influenza cases: 120

Espírito Santo: 31 (30 wild birds, 01 survival birds)

Rio de Janeiro: 19 (wild birds)

Rio Grande do Sul: 03 (01 for wild birds, 02 for marine animals)

Sao Paulo: 35 (wild birds)

Bay: 04 (Wild Bird)

Paraná: 12 (wild birds)

Santa Catarina: 15 (14 wild birds and 01 surviving birds)

Mato Grosso do Sul: Survival Bird Ranking 01
