Bird flu: New measures for the second half of the year to prepare for Senna Pesca

As of the end of July, nearly 19,000 marine animals in my country have died from bird flu. Senna Pesca recorded approximately 16,310 sea lions, 2,493 Humboldt penguins, 27 dolphins, 34 dolphins, 17 Chilean dolphins, and 1 Wheeling dolphin. “Analyses and forecasts show that conditions are expected to be complicated in the coming months, mainly due to the arrival of El Niño on the coast of northern regions, affecting the food supply of marine animals,” said Soledad Tapia, Sena Pesca National Director. “The weakened physiological condition of the specimen due to the survival of the bird flu, combined with the loss of food, would have a synergistic effect on the stranding, increasing or maintaining the sequence of these events,” the authorities said. “Our second semester focus was on Antarctica, Chile, where we are pushing for the provision of biosecurity protocols for all transport to and from the region. We need to protect the fauna of this continent from this disease, which is birds and mammals have done so much damage,” Tapia said.
