This November 26 is Black Friday. This date originated in the United States in the 1960s as a way to anticipate Christmas shopping. Black Friday usually falls on the same week as Thanksgiving (November 25).
In recent years, Argentina also began to emulate the date and various internet portals offer discounts. However, Black Friday is not regulated by CAME unlike Hot Sale and Cyber Monday.
Some tips for shopping safely are:
1. Browse recognized and safe sites:
In addition to reviewing prices and their history, it is important to buy from official and safe sites.
One way to recognize the security of a site is to see the lock icon in the browser (where the URL or web address appears). Also, secure URLs start with “https” instead of “http.”
In some search engines such as Chrome or Firefox a poster appears that notifies when the site is insecure. In turn, trusting brands with a track record in which we have already had a good experience and those that have customer support add factors that contribute to a safe purchase.
2. Read the fine print:
It can be cumbersome, but it is important to read the terms and conditions, to know what the purchase characteristics are, the shipping and handling times, what is the minimum purchase amount to access offers and, the compatibility with other promotions.
Many times when there is a price much lower than usual compared to offers from another store, there may be extra costs that are expressed in fine print and are not obvious.
Reading the fine print can avoid setbacks when making a purchase.
3. Opt for secure means of payment, consider financing alternatives and verify purchase limits:
Trusted sites offer varied and secure payment methodologies to operate online. In this sense, opting for recognized means of payment and with which we operate more regularly provides us with greater security conditions. Likewise, before making a purchase, it is important to verify the amounts and limits available that we have.
Another relevant point to take into account is to review the financing alternatives –if we choose to pay in installments-, in some cases they may include interest and this affect the offer in its final value.
4. Calculate other costs:
One of the costs that is not always included is that of shipping. In some cases it can be high and therefore affect the final cost and therefore, the promotion.
Therefore, it is important to take this point into account, which can be calculated at the time of purchase by indicating the postal code.
On the other hand, some stores offer free shipping from “X” purchase amount. In these times, it is also possible that there are delays in shipping times, therefore, in this sense, it is important to verify the current delivery conditions in stores.
