Character Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow was presented in Marvel Cinematic Universe V iron Man 2 (2010), but not everyone knew that at the time Scarlett Johansson was not the first choice Marvel Studios for the role. Indeed, at that time Emily Blunt was in the last talks to interpret Natasha Romanoff but was forced to step down from the role due to her contractual obligations with Gulliver’s travels (2010).
Host of Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Emily Blunt remembered a subtle casting call that said:
He went to Best Actress. I usually don’t take on a role thinking it could become a franchise. This is not my habit. I don’t have a specific strategy, I don’t know why. I like something, and then I just hope that everything will work out, also because each new project is a jump into the void. Of course, when I read the script, I see that some things are more commercially attractive than others, but that’s not the reason why I prefer one project over another.
Rumors have been circulating for years Captain Marvelon Peggy Carteron Sue Storm…but I never got to meet Marvel or Kevin Feige for those roles. And I think it’s too late to play a superhero.
