During a recent interview, Ridley Scott revealed that he regrets turning down the Blade Runner sequel to direct Alien: Covenant.
Ridley Scott – at the advanced age of 85 – continues to be one of the most active and prolific Hollywood directors. During a recent interview given Empire – on the occasion of the debut Napoleonscheduled for November 23, 2023 – however, the director revealed that he has a small regret regarding his career, which relates to blade runner sequel.
Ridley Scott regrets not making Blade Runner 2049
Expected in cinemas with one of the most interesting films of the next autumn season, Napoleon – not currently delayed despite the strike – so Ridley Scott is back to talk about Blade Runner 2049revealing – to the microphones Empire – have I regret not making a sequel 1982 cult, preferring to focus on Alien: Covenant:
I should not have made such a decision, but I had no other choice. Looking back I should have turned Blade Runner 2.
Ridley Scottannounced in 2014 that he wanted to devote himself Alien: Covenantthe third part of the franchise he directed – after aliensfrom 1972 and prequel Prometheus. When the Blade Runner sequel was in the works, the director was already busy and had to “make do” with being credited as an executive producer. So he had to take his place behind the camera Denis Villeneuve, while in the cast we find Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Ana De Armas and Harrison Ford, who reprises the iconic role of Rick Deckard. Scott, however, seems to have learned his lesson and personally decided to pursue another of his cults, Gladiatoris currently in production. The feature film, set thirty years after the first chapter, will revolve around the figure of Lucius, Lucilla’s son and nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), rescued by Massimo Desimo Meridio at the end of the first film. Paul Mescal will take on the role of the protagonist, joined by Fred Hechinger, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, May Calamawi, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacoby. As for the universe Blade Runneralone on the road Series – by name Blade Runner 2099 – which will be available soon on Prime Video and in which Ridley Scott is actively involved as a producer. The project itself will continue Blade Runner 2049 and will happen in fifty years. So all that’s left is to wait updates.
