The Formula 1 Grand Prix at Monza has always been one of the most coveted red carpets. On the same level (almost) with Venice or Cannes. But in this 2023 edition, that statement is truer than ever. On account of the special guest, the most anticipated guest, Brad Pitt. Officially, it was not shown to the public, but one more garage appeared in the pit lane of Monza than the planned teams.
This was exactly the “Hollywood stable”, the one that will see Brad Pitt driving as driver Sonny Hayes, the protagonist of the film, which has been filming for several months on international highways.
This is Apex, the new film from director Joseph Kosinski, former director of Top Gun Maverick. Brad Pitt, who has already taken to the track for the first takes of past Grands Prix, is working in the film with British actor Damson Idris as up-and-coming young four-wheeler Joshua Pearce. During Sunday’s race, attendees at the 2023 Monza Grand Prix also witnessed the likely resumption of some scenes from the film.
Shortly before the parade of real racers on the track, two racing cars with the logo of the film team drove around the Italian track. The helmets hid the faces of the pilots. but some say they saw one of them being identical to Brad Pitt. Maybe it was a star, maybe a stunt double, or maybe a desire to see him.
