The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs reported that it was not possible to contact the ship called “Central Park”, which had Turkish sailors on board, off the coast of Yemen, and it was likely that it had been hijacked.

It was announced that communication with the ship was lost in the morning hours in the Gulf of Aden area, and the Turkish sailor, Captain Aydin Hasirci and the fourth captain, Okan Yuksel, were on board.
The directorate said that the issue is being followed up by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs on the matter, “While the chemical tanker called Central Park, belonging to the Zodiac Marine Company, was sailing off the Yemeni coast in the Gulf of Aden, communication with it was cut off as of this morning, and no communication can be made in the meantime.”
The ship is believed to have been hijacked.
Turkish sailors, Captain Aydin Hasirci and Captain IV Okan Yuksel, are on duty on board the ship, and constant communication is maintained with all units, especially the relevant company. He added, “The issue is being followed up by our ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
