Florence – After the Roman sold-outs, Morrissey, the most important artist of the Anglo-British wave scene, has finally arrived in Florence., and the memory of the fantastic summer concert two years ago is still alive. The meeting this time will take place at the ObiHall in Lungarno Aldo Moro, on Tuesday, October 21, at 21:00 (numbered gallery ticket 50 euros; one seat 40 euros – pre-sale www.boxofficetoscana.it – www.ticketone.it).
As always, a special live show featuring many gems from the Smiths repertoire and featuring new album “World Peace Is None of Your Business.”
Morrissey’s poignant, enchanting melodies have created one of rock’s most unique careers, but “World Peace Is None Of Your Business” is clear evidence that the pop icon isn’t about to rest on his laurels.
The follow-up, 2009’s Years of Refusal, combines raw electric guitars and energetic choruses into one of his most exploratory and realistic albums as a soloist. With this new work, Morrissey’s songwriting career (all lyrics are marked by the singer’s bright and sharp handwriting) has reached new heights, while maintaining his most characteristic features such as humor, drama and passion. Already in the first three tracks, Morrissey lists countries in which political instability reigns, writes ironic poems about contagious diseases and sings as an abusive husband in the song “I’m not a Man.”
Then there’s the formidable production work of Joe Ciccarelli (who has worked with both The Strokes and Alanis Morissette in the past) and the distorted and subversive fury of guitarist Boz Boorer, which bring the insidious and addictive energy of “World Peace Is None Of Your.” Business”.
Standout songs include “Instanbul” (the single that preceded the album’s release), a syncopated and rousing song set on the streets of a Turkish metropolis, and the jubilant tune “The Bullfighter Dies”.
The album’s release was accompanied by the release of several videos, directed by Natalie Jones and recorded at Capitol Studios, in which Morrissey explains the concepts behind some of the songs.
“World Peace Is None Of Your Business” was recorded in France, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, at La Fabrique Studios. In addition to guitarist Boz Boorer, Morrissey was joined by such great musicians as Jesse Tobias (guitar), Solomon Walker (bass), Matthew Walker (drums) and Gustavo Manzur (keyboards).
Among the clips you can recognize Nancy Sinatra and American actress Pamela Anderson in a short cameo. A rock singer caught between anger and emotion and an artist who refused to compromise, after the breakup of The Smiths, Stephen Patrick Morrissey, Mose to fans, began a solo career that began in 1988 with the album “Viva Hate.”
