Britney Spears will let us watch Crossroads again. The pop superstar’s most unpopular drama and debut film role will return to theaters in October for the release of her tell-all memoir. The woman in me. The new trailer, specially created for the re-release, gives us a 30-second glimpse of Spears sneaking out at night to meet up with her friends and perform the hit song that spawned the film.
Although the Shonda Rhimes-penned film premiered in 2002 to mediocre reviews, it gave us the aforementioned power ballad “I’m Not a Girl, But Not Yet a Woman”; financially successful box office receipts ($61.1 million against a $12 million budget); and critical praise for Spears, who was at the peak of her career at the time. It tells the story of three childhood friends who rekindle their friendship while traveling across the country.Fans can look forward to bonus performances of two Spears tracks streaming on the big screen, as well as a new special Crossroads
soundtrack, including remixes of “Overprotected” (Richi Lopez Remix), “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” (Frank Walker Remix) and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” (Snakeships Remix). The film hits theaters Oct. 23, the day before the memoir hits bookshelves and teas everyone’s tea about the conservatorship Spears fled and other decades of simmering turmoil. Crossroads will go against Taylor Swift Eras Tour a concert film, thanks to which October 23 will become a national holiday for pop musicians around the world. This post has been updated.
