Bronny James ditches LeBron James’ latest sneakers in favor of retro Kobe Bryant sneakers as he debuts at USC

LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny, wore the late great Kobe Bryant’s sneakers instead of his father’s during his USC debut on Saturday.

Bronny will be playing his first season in the NCAA this year. Summer was unsure if he would be able to continue playing basketball after suffering a cardiac arrest during a practice. Those concerns have been put to rest, though, as he made his debut wearing USC colors during a preseason fan event at the Galen Center.

The 6-foot-3 guard from Sierra Canyon is a four-star recruit ranked No. 19 in the ESPN 100 class of 2023. In his final year at Sierra Canyon, he averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 points per game. Assisted in one game, earning himself McDonald’s All-American honors.

He wore the USC Trojans’ No. 6 jersey at Saturday’s fan event and was also seen wearing the “PJ Tucker” Nike Kobe 5 PE instead of LeBron’s. Bronny occasionally wore a Kobe Grinch jersey.

Earlier this month, LeBron James said during an update on his son’s health:

“Brownie is doing a great job… Our family has a lot of affection this summer, but the best thing we have is each other.”

Can LeBron James win another championship?

The new season is about to start in a few days, and the Lakers are preparing to win another championship. They made some great moves this offseason and added considerable depth for the upcoming season.

They did a good job of keeping their core intact and signed some veteran players in Taurean Prince and Christian Wood.

LeBron James is entering his 21st season this year, but he’s not showing any signs of slowing down. On paper, the Lakers front office appears to have done a great job of building a very capable supporting cast for LeBron and Anthony Davis.

Last season, they turned things around late in the regular season after a poor start. This year, they’ll be looking to change that by starting strong from the start.

Prior to his 21st season, LeBron James averaged 27.2 points, 7.3 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game.

He is already the highest-scoring player in league history. At 38 years old, the 6-foot-9 NBA superstar still looks hungry for more championships. If Anthony Davis and others can stay healthy throughout the season, the Lakers could be a team to watch as James sets his sights on the fifth pick.
