Cadence of Hyrule: The Crypt of the NecroDancers featuring The Legend of Zelda[a] is an indie roguelike rhythm game developed by Brace Yourself Games and published by Nintendo (Spike Chunsoft in Japan). The game was released on June 13, 2019 for Nintendo Switch.
Game
Rhythm of Hyrule combines the rhythm-based gameplay of Crypt of the NecroDancer with characters, settings, and music from The Legend of Zelda series. Players play almost the entire game as Link or Princess Zelda, with other characters such as the NecroDancer hero Cadence unlocking by progressing through the game or completing certain tasks, each with their own unique abilities. Players traverse an Overworld consisting of predefined areas and map designs related to Zelda’s history, such as Hyrule Castle or even Death Mountain, but whose comparative placement is procedurally generated for each new save file. This map remains the same throughout the game, but some dungeons, such as those found in temples, will be randomly generated each time they are visited. Whenever there are enemies in the area, the player must move and attack in time to the music using the directional buttons, along with bonus multipliers and additional rewards available for keeping the beat. In the game, the player can find or purchase weapons and equipment such as shovels to dig through the ground or torches that can show the contents of chests, in addition to recurring Zelda items such as bows, bows, and hooks.
