Cardi B has been embroiled in a legal battle with a security guard since 2020 over an alleged assault in 2018, but it looks like there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
According to documents received Radar OnlineThe Bronx rapper’s legal team told the court on Thursday (Oct. 12) that they had agreed to postpone the trial until next year in hopes the matter could be resolved through mediation.
In 2020, security guard Emani Ellis filed a lawsuit against the “Bongos” rapper for assault, battery and infliction of emotional distress, alleging that she attacked her in Los Angeles in February 2018. Cardi was pregnant with her and Offset Kulture’s first child at the time. The incident allegedly occurred as she was leaving the obstetrician’s office for a scheduled appointment.
According to Ellis’ statement, Cardi allegedly “scratched her with her fingernail, shouted racial slurs at her and spat at her” after a security guard began filming her. The rapper’s pregnancy has not yet been announced, and as the title of her debut album suggests, it was Invasion of personal space.
Ellis said she suffered “physical, emotional and psychological harm” as a result of the alleged attack. She also claimed to have a scar on her cheek, but did not have photographs of the alleged injuries and did not seek medical attention. The security guard also claimed that Cardi “used her celebrity status” to get her fired.
A spokesman for the medical corps denied the allegations, instead saying the guard was fired for violating the rapper’s privacy. An eyewitness also said TMZ that although an altercation occurred, it never became physical and no racial slurs were said.
On the other hand, Cardi B is still waiting to pay out the entire $4 million judgment she won against blogger Tasha K.
Court documents received Hip-HopDX show the decision was made earlier this month. In his motion for partial summary judgment, Judge Scott Grossman of the Southern District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division, ruled that Have fun with Tasha K. Hostess can remain in her previously filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy if she so chooses, but her debt to Cardi B cannot be discharged under the terms of the judgment.
In other words, no matter what happens, Tasha K will have to pay Cardi B what she owes.

“Defendant does not appear to dispute that the awards provided for in the amended judgment for defamation, whether awarded against her individually or jointly and severally, are not eligible for relief,” Bardi’s lawyers successfully argued their motion.
Previously, blogger Tasha K offered Cardi B just a fraction of the total, with Tasha asking to pay the “Bodak Yellow” rapper only $220,000 of the $3.9 million she owes.
The reason for this, according to Radar Onlinethere was a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing for Tasha K. The publication reports that Tasha K. (real name Latasha Kebe) offered Bardi (real name Belcalis Almanzar) this money as part of her proposed repayment plan, which must be filed within 30 days from filing your Chapter 11 petition.
Cardi, for her part, objected to the proposal, claiming that Tasha’s words were the reason she received the debt. Thus, she argued that her decision was against Have fun with Tasha K. the host must remain intact.
