The American director, one of the greatest of all time, has often used cars in his films: here are the most iconic models.
In its history, the film world has always relied heavily on the automotive world: in fact, cars in films have become legendary also – and often primarily – thanks to their presence in some of the legendary films.
Among the directors who often used cars in their films, making them real heroes on four wheels, one of the most prominent was Quentin Tarantino. So here’s what they are cars that have become icons thanks to the presence on the big screen in the film of an American director of Italian origin.
The most iconic cars from Tarantino films
There are several cars that can write history thanks to the presence of the famous director in the film. Among the most iconic cars, there are undoubtedly Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu from Pulp Fiction, Tarantino’s second film, characterized by the glowing red coloring that appears in many of the film’s key scenes, including Mia’s overdose scene when Vincent loads her into the car, becoming the vehicle by which the character tries to save her. The car, produced from 1964 to 1977 and equipped with a 6.6 V8 sports engine, was a great success with General Motors.
Another movie where cars dominate is Kill Bill. In fact, throughout the saga, cars play a leading role. As in the case pussy van, a yellow Chevrolet 2500 Crew Cab Silverado which has also been used for numerous music videos such as Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s “Phone” or as Volkswagen Pocket Gia, produced by Dom in 1955 and mechanically similar to the Beetle, in the black-and-white episode “Kill Bill Vol. 2”, famous, in particular, for the scene in which the Black Mamba announces to the viewer that he is going to kill Bill at the wheel of the legendary Volkswagen, which will take you to your destination.
However, Tarantino’s most motorized film in the history of cinema is “Death Proof”the second part of “Grindhouse”, the poster of which depicts Chevrolet Nova with a skull on the hood. Also in the same film, although in the first part, there is a Ford Mustang Grande – a luxurious version of a sports car that was produced between 1969 and 1972. Even one of the Italian-American director’s latest works features several legendary cars: In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the sequence of historical cars is truly breathtaking.
In this film, in essence, the director decided to move Hollywood Boulevard and other iconic Los Angeles corners back fifty years, returning to the decorative models that had already appeared in previous films or populated the streets in those years. So we move from the blue Karmann Ghia, who already starred in Kill Bill, to the 1962 MG TD with two real-life characters in the film, actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and her director husband Roman Polanski, returning from Europe after their success. “Rosemary’s Baby” to a mythical co-star, namely Creamy yellow 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. on which Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio move.
What’s more, it’s the exact same car driven by Michael Madsen in Reservoir Dogs, the first Tarantino film to be scrapped for the occasion, and one of the most iconic cars to ever appear on a set.
